Just a quick update and a recent effort from my camera.

My macro enthusiasm continues to grow with every chance I get outside, camera in hand. I also have started to develop my widlife photography skills, allthough I don’t have the qequipment to get the optics I need.

I’ll start the day off by posting my photo for the day. Got this as I was mowing the lawn yesterday. This fella’ popped up and I talked him into posing for me a few minutes.

This was a particularly difficult shot as there was almost no natural light and I couldn’t use flash because I had no diffuser. The flash was to bright without diffuser. Had to use the extreem settings of ISO1600 and 1/60th second @ f/8. ISO1600 on my Canon EOS 400D is noisy, but I did manage to get rid of some of it.
I’m playing with the idea of maybe upgrading my kit though, to get the most of it all. Time will tell.

Some time ago I made another upgrade to my kit. I love wildlife photography as well as macro photography and when I had the opportunity, I bought the Canon EF-S 60mm Macro. Some of the shots resulting in that can be viewed in the previous post, and I have a few more in this one.

Again I’ve been slow as heck with updates. Here are a few of my latest shots:
Homemade “studio”

Not much time lately to update and write, but I had to make time to write about this. I, as a hobbyist, always look for great ideas and things to make it easier and cheaper to have photography as a hobby. One thing I’ve realized is VERY important is lighting. No light, no shot. I have no budget for professional lighting, so for now I’m using a builders lamp and this has given good results this far.
About time for an update

Just a quick post of a new shot. Haven’t had much time to update and write lately, but hope to get something done over the weekend.
I do love macro, and I’m certain to get a dedicated macro lens (100mm) sometime in the coming months. (After this years car-fees etc. are paid.)
Quickie post

No time to post a long one today.
I’ve just reinstalled my computer after a total crash, but luckily I’ve managed to recover the items not in my latest backup.
Digital Compact and Macro

Update: I’ve changed host and images in this post is gone. Not that important post, so I haven’t been bothered recreating the images. (Leave a comment if you’d like to see, and I’ll make the effort.)
As I’ve posted, I recently bought the HP Photosmart M525, compact digital. This camera has a adequate macro setting, and this was the main reason for my selection. (That and the fact it’s a good camera priced at under 1000NOK/$160.) The macro-setting probably isn’t real macro, and focusing once in macro isn’t easy, as the autofocus doesn’t always take your point… (Image on the right is resized and cropped.)
A few tests here at home has revealed that for really good macro shots, this camera won’t be enough. You need a good DSLR system, but my economy doesn’t allow for this at the moment. Thinking of a way to “work around” this limitation, got me a bit closed. I’m still very new to photography, so composition, focus (allthough it’s AF), lighting, etc.. is probably going to be bad, but you’ll hopefully get the idea.
