Not really an idea but…

This isn’t really an idea as I’ve already built one of these, and the other one is not mine.
First: I’ve been into model rocketry almost as long as I’ve been tinkering. Started out with some simple store bought rocket and moved into (of course) making these things myself. Rocket motors are dangerous and when firing you should be a safe distance away. A 9V battery is sufficient to fire the starter but that’s not a decent solution for a maker. I did some searching and thinking and came up with the VERY high voltage circuit from a disposable camera. This thing cranks out about 400V and is VERY DANGEROUS! You should only attempt to

Actually it’s the 30th. as it’s past 00:00, but it’s under 29th. since that’s when I got up.
I decided I didn’t want to re-invent the wheel in terms of a gallery application, since I found one that (so far) covers all my needs and is a pleasure to use. You can find my gallery here: Geir Andersen’s Photogallery. It’s not much in there yet as I’m still setting it up and uploading stuff, but it’ll get there.
There’s the option to order prints in there, and I’ll write a T&C page which will get a link shortly.
For now, please enjoy the gallery and hope to see you again soon.

I’ll start the day off by posting my photo for the day. Got this as I was mowing the lawn yesterday. This fella’ popped up and I talked him into posing for me a few minutes.

Click the image to go to it’s Flickr page.
This was a particularly difficult shot as there was almost no natural light and I couldn’t use flash because I had no diffuser. The flash was to bright without diffuser. Had to use the extreem settings of ISO1600 and 1/60th second @ f/8. ISO1600 on my Canon EOS 400D is noisy, but I did manage to get rid of some of it.
I’m playing with the idea of maybe upgrading my kit though, to get the most of it all. Time will tell.

Some time ago I made another upgrade to my kit. I love wildlife photography as well as macro photography and when I had the opportunity, I bought the Canon EF-S 60mm Macro. Some of the shots resulting in that can be viewed in the previous post, and I have a few more in this one.
New changes to the site
Sep 30, 2007 Digital Photography, Photography
If you’ve visited this site earlier, you may notice some changes now. Some posts have been removed and a general change to the site itself. I’ve added a top-menu with new items, and changed the right-side menu. All for the better I hope.
Because of the recent changes in my life, I’ll try to dedicate this site directly to photography and to show my work here. Because I’m an avid user of Flickr most, if not all, images will be uploaded there. Those images I’m most satisfied with, will of course be placed under Gallery on this site as well. If the interest should be there, images are for sale and more info on this will come in the Purchase Info section.
All images on this site is copyrighted, and the rights belong to Geir Ove Andersen, if nothing else is stated. Please contact me if you would like to use any of the images.
Photography as a hobby and equipment

Beeing as new as I am, and with a VERY limited budget, until now I have settled on using the kit 18-55mm lens. Looking at myself as an aspiring wildlife photographer, I know I need focal length, and quality lenses. This is a bit into the future for me, but I had to get something I could use. A bit of research and advice from other people, I ended up getting the Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 DG APO Macro.

I came across a site, thanks to a link over at pixalo.com. The site in question is: http://www.ukexpert.co.uk. They’re a photo-competition site, and have a forum-section for users. The problem is their User Agreement, which you have to accept when registering.
Here’s a quote:
By submitting images and messages and other material to ukexpert.co.uk you warrant that you are the copyright owner and that you grant ukexpert.co.uk permanent copyright ownership equal to your own for all materials uploaded. This includes a permanent right for ukexpert.co.uk and its associated systems and companies to make use of them in any way they see fit, including but not limited to use in advertising and promotional material.
This basically states that any images or material you upload, they can use as they see fit, and should they make any money or such, it’s theirs to keep.
I sent information on this to Haje Jan Kamps over at PhotoCritic.org suggesting it might be a good article. He wrote a very detailed article and this can be read here. I strongly suggest you read this, as it includes lots of great advice (also some legal stuff), should you be/get stuck “in the mud”. Read the rest of this entry »
Quickie again

Outdoor getting some firewood, and I saw this sky. Had to give it a try, as I’m wanting to try all sorts of different scenery. Set up using tripod etc, but there’s a streetlight just to the right, f%#¤ing up my eyes. AF wouldn’t work, and I couldn’t see if I had it right, so I just shot when I felt close. EXIF data on the flickr page (click the image). No DoF, as I shot at 5.6 unsure of focus.
No writing done today either. Day spent re-decorating and out shopping. Got a new printer yesterday, and had to stock up on photo paper today. I got 4×6″ Canon Glossy Everyday (170g/m2). This is just for tests @ home. When I get some shots I really want I’ll get them chemically printed @ 50cm x 75cm. Was really surprised at how cheap this was to get done. 99,- NOK (about $15 and £7).
Slight more decorating to do tomorrow, but then I have to get some writing done.
About time for an update
Feb 16, 2007 Digital Photography, Floral, General, Macro, PhotoBlog
Just a quick post of a new shot. Haven’t had much time to update and write lately, but hope to get something done over the weekend.
I do love macro, and I’m certain to get a dedicated macro lens (100mm) sometime in the coming months. (After this years car-fees etc. are paid.)

No time to post a long one today.
I’ve just reinstalled my computer after a total crash, but luckily I’ve managed to recover the items not in my latest backup.
