All the tanks are doing wonderfully and fish are growing well. The JD’s are slow growing, but the PP’s are “monsters”. They’ve been out of danger for some time now, as they’re much to big to be prey. Hoping the JD’s will kick in shortly

On a whole other note: I’ve never really been much of a gamer, but recent events have got me to endeavor into this world.  I’ve never had a computer that was built for games, but during the last year or so I’ve had the urge to build one. Last week I finally did it, and this time I put the effort into making it reliable for games.

Specs and all that sort of thing might just come, if I find the time.

Well, now I’m off to bed getting far to little sleep but hey… That’s one thing I’m used to!!!

I had hoped to maybe se 10 or so make it through the 3 week barrier, and boy did they…
There is no way of actually counting them (other than taking a picture and marking them) but a careful estimate I’d guess it’s between 40 and 60 of them now.

Today I’ve changed them over to a bigger tank, and in a week or so they’ll be ready for a “real” tank. For now it’s a BB tank (Bare Bottom tank) with no filter, just a pump and a stone.

As if this litter wasn’t enough, the parents are now nurturing a new litter. They’re currently at the wiggler stage, and should be swimming about in a day or two. I also have  a litter on my Pelvicachromis Pulcher, and they are swimming around in the tank with their parents. I’m guessing they’re about 2 weeks now, and boy are they big. I have guppies and zebra’s in the tank with them, but they’re still swimming around like they have no care. The parents are ferocious in their protection, and will chase off any “intruder”. Hope to see a few of these make it as well.

There’s nothing like having small fish in the house. I like to think of it as evidence that the older ones are comfortable. Sure enough.. These two species are simple to care for and relatively simple to get younglings.

I’ve never had a go at raising chiclid babies, so this is all new experiences for me. The parents got to keep a few younglings (about 30-50 or so) just to see how they do at their first try. I have no idea of how many I moved today, but they are quite a few. Decided to keep them in a 31L tank for the first week (if they survive) to see the growth rate. As stated I have no clue, and this is to learn. I’m thinking of ways to keep them all when they gett bigger, and that means I have to get one or more bigger tanks. I have one tank I think I’ll get ready as soon as possible, because when/if they get big enough, they’ll need space quick. Not to mention that it has to be ready for them.

I found more heaters and a pump or two that I’ll set up to get started. The pumps/filters need a couple of weeks to get the bacterias right, but I’ll run them in a tank that’s allready going (along side the current pump) and that will hopefully speed up the process.

Having the camera and lens that I do, I tried to get a good closeup of the fry. Those things are small and FAST… Hard to get anything good, but I did get one I thought was good enough to post.

Picked her up about a week ago, and let her into her new home hoping for the best. They’ve seemed to like eachother, but I haven’t seen any courting bahviour to speak of.

Imagine my surprise when I was getting ready to do the weekly water change today…

I haven’t even seen the eggs, and they’ve probably been there for 3-5 days…

All of a sudden I’ve got a lot ahead of me. Setting up new rearing tanks, preparing food, feeding changing water, cleaning etc etc… I am looking forward to it though, but I haven’t got too big expectations.. It’s their first time spawning and first timers haven’t got the biggest spawn-grow ratio.

I figured it was best to make a film now incase of a disaster, and here it is:

I have started two of my run-down aquariums again. I’ve got one 400L, two 112L, three 63L and a couple small ones (20-35L). So far it’s only the 112L and a 20L running. The 112L is populated with 4 Pelvicachromis Pulcher, 4 Guppies and 10 zebra like school of fish (sorry, don’t know theire true names). I’ll post some images as soon as I get my camera software up and running.

I have plans to start more of the tanks again, and the guppies will get theire own tank with a few more colors. I hope to start breeding the Pelvi’s, but they’re still young and need time to acclimate.

If I can find my two last 63L tanks, I think I’ll make two Corydoras (this is paleatus) species tanks. Each tank will be dedicated to one species. I’m not sure which species to choose, but it’ll probably be two of the more readily availlable ones. Something like: Paleatus, Schultzei/Aeneus or Schwartzi.

Well, it’s time to turn off the lights in the tanks and my lights are out soon as well. For some reason I’ve started waking up early in the morning (I’m usually as big a night-person as they come).
